The Nuclear Strategic Capability Integration Group (NSCIG) provides analysis and recommendations to enable the Ministry of Defence to make informed decisions relating to the development and maintenance of strategic national nuclear capabilities.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.
What you will be doing:
* Pioneering advanced nuclear technologies.
* Making the case for critical nuclear infrastructure.
* Working with government planners and decision makers.
* Appraisal of nuclear physics in novel and advanced nuclear systems.
* Provision of broad physics knowledge and expertise to multidisciplined technical teams to solve complex and ambiguous problems.
* The critical appraisal of available methods and computational codes including the development and deployment of reduced order methods using well-established scientific programming languages, eg Python, C++, and Fortran.
* Collaboration with engineers and specialists across the wider business, supply chain and academia investigating phenomena, and developing and employing high fidelity codes eg OpenMC, Serpent, and MCNP.

Specifically, the successful candidate for the Nuclear Physicist role will be confident in applying fundamental science and engineering principles such as the neutron transport equation to:
* Reactor Neutronics
* Criticality Calculations
* Radiation Shielding
* Heat Transfer

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place.
