Job summary
We are looking to appoint two newly qualified GPs for the RotherhamCentral North PCN under the ARRS funding rules, on a fixed term contract untilMarch 2025. We are a friendly PCN with a strong emphasis on team working andcollaboration, for better outcomes for our patients and working conditions forour team members.
This would be an admin light post responsible only foradministration related to patients seen in the same day clinic. Time would beallocated in each session for that. A small number of appointments may befollow ups for patients seen previously.
We have funding within the ARRS funds to employ for fivesessions per week. The preferred working pattern would be one session perworking day Monday to Friday, with some flexibility on timing. It would ideallysuit someone looking for work exclusively within school hours, but we are alsoopen to discuss alternative working patterns.
According to the national funding rules, candidates must beregistered on the Performers List and with the GMC, with a CCT date within thelast two years and must not have previously held a substantive post.
Main duties of the job
This GP would work with colleagues across the PCN practicesto staff a same day clinical service, to supplement that offering directly fromthe practices themselves.
The role would be based in a number of the PCN practicebuildings, rotating through some different premises each week to allow accessfor all network patients. Clinical support would be offered by each practice,with co-ordination and oversight through the Clinical Director. The primarymode of patient consult would be face to face appointments, following carenavigation from practice front of house teams.
To work as anautonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services tothe practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical carewhilst complying with the GMS and PCN DES contract. Furthermore, thepost-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice,contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example,maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with themultidisciplinary team.

Rotherham Central North PCN is a collaborative of 4 practices. Broom Lane Medical Centre, Greenside Medical Centre, Woodstock Bower Medical Centre, Greasbrough Medical Centre.
We have a large ARRS team that comprises of Pharmacists, Pharmacy technicians, Mental Health Practitioners, Social Prescribing link works, Admiral Nurse, Physiotherapists, Home visiting team, Diabetic Dieticians. We believe that every ARRS team member should be made to feel part of the bigger team in the surgery. Our staff turnover is minimal.

The PCN GP is tasked with providing high-quality, patient-centred care while adhering to clinical guidelines and professional standards. Key responsibilities include:
Clinical Responsibilities
1. Providing a safe, evidence-based, cost-effective, individualised patient care in the surgery, patients homes, or other care environments.
2. Clinically examine and assess patient needs from both physiological and psychological perspectives.
3. Develop and implement clinical care plans, referring patients to appropriate services in a timely manner according to practice and/or PCN guidelines.
4. Recognise the need for and perform investigatory procedures, including laboratory tests and radiological assessments, and interpret the results.
5. Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately in complex, urgent, or emergency situations, including the initiation of effective emergency care.
6. Ensure appropriate follow-up care for patients post-intervention.
7. Support patients in adopting health promotion strategies and self-care principles.
8. Deliver anticipatory care plans to proactive health management.
9. Independently prescribe medications within the scope of practice / PCN, adhering to local and national prescribing guidelines.
10. Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
11. Review and adjust medications according to NICE guidelines and local care pathways.
12. Maintain an awareness of developments in clinical practice and implement changes as and when necessary.
Administrative Responsibilities
13. Process referrals, repeat prescription requests, and other administrative tasks in a timely manner.
Record clear consultation notes using the clinical system (SystmOne) to agreed standards.
14. Work collaboratively with colleagues, sharing practice workload equitably and contributing to the overall efficiency of the team.
15. Contribute to the successful implementation of quality initiatives within the PCN and engage in clinical audits.
Professional and Policy Compliance
16. Comply with all national, statutory, legislative, and local policies.
17. Proactively contribute to the development and improvement of local policies and protocols.
18. Be aware of duties and responsibilities regarding safeguarding children and adults, adhering to policies and procedures.
19. Always maintain patient confidentiality and ensure that sensitive information is handled according to PCN policies.
20. Follow relevant practice policies and guidelines, including those related to prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, and Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) standards.
Patient Management
21. Create opportunities to address patient care needs efficiently, managing patient expectations realistically.
22. Encourage the use of technology and alternative care options when appropriate to improve service delivery.
23. Report any concerns related to safety or quality of patient care to the Clinical Director, Practice Manager, or PCN Manager immediately.
24. Engage in regular communication with patients to reassure them and address any concerns regarding their care.
Training and personal development
25. Staff training requirements will be monitored by yearly appraisals and will be in accordance with PCN requirements.
26. Personal development will be encouraged and supported by the PCN. It is the individuals responsibility to remain up to date with recent developments and appropriate member/fellowship requirements if any.
27. Enhance own performance through Continuous Professional Development, attendance at courses and study days as deemed useful, and imparting own knowledge and behaviours to meet the needs of the service.
28. If it is necessary to expand the role to include additional responsibilities, full training will be given.
29. Develop and maintain a Personal Learning Plan.
