An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environment Coordinator to join the Short Stay Unit in Barnsley Hospital.
We are looking for an enthusiastic person with excellent organisational skills to join our team. The main focus of this role is to maintain a pleasant and welcoming environment for patients and families by ensuring the unit is kept clean, tidy and well stocked. The role also involves the management of the safe use of daily equipment alongside the nursing team.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the Environment Coordinator include working as an integral part of the ward team to ensure a high quality service and environment for patients while liaising with other departments such as cleaning coordinators, nursing team, and estates.
The post holder will work under the direction and guidance of the person with continuing responsibility.
1. Undertaking daily, weekly, and monthly checks for all Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) that do not require a Registered Nurse to undertake.
2. Documenting that SOPs have been checked by signing the ward file.
3. Dealing with any issues that arise from SOP checks.
4. Maintaining the SOP file in good order, including the safe custody of completed sheets.
5. Undertaking checks relating to the Fire Manual (after appropriate Fire Marshall training).
6. Reporting any faults at ward level (e.g. broken toilet seats, beds, blinds/curtains) and progressing any reported items via electronic systems.
7. Ensuring the ongoing cleanliness of the ward in conjunction with the ward team, including liaising with domestic staff, the Infection Control team, and other members of the MDT where appropriate.
8. Ensuring that patient bed areas are clean and tidy following discharge, including safe disposal of any consumables in line with Trust policies and procedures.
9. Ensuring that bed areas are restocked as appropriate for the next patient.
