Role Purpose: The Registered Manager will hold overall responsibility for the leadership, management, and operational delivery of JMA Childrens Home. You will ensure the home meets all regulatory requirements, achieves positive outcomes for children, and sustains a supportive environment for staff development. Key Responsibilities: Leadership and Management: Lead the day-to-day operations of the childrens home, ensuring compliance with Childrens Homes Regulations 2015 and associated Quality Standards. Provide strategic direction and oversight to ensure high-quality care for children and young people. Recruit, train, supervise, and support staff to build a highly skilled, motivated, and compassionate team. Develop and implement effective policies, procedures, and systems to safeguard children. Safeguarding and Child Welfare: Promote the safety and well-being of children, embedding a culture of safeguarding across the home. Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring all concerns are reported and addressed in line with statutory and organizational requirements. Oversee individualized care planning for each child, ensuring their needs, preferences, and goals are met. Advocate for childrens rights and liaise with professionals, families, and agencies to support childrens development. Compliance and Quality Assurance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Ofsted requirements and ensure the home is always prepared for inspection. Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and quality assurance activities to identify and address gaps in practice. Keep accurate, confidential records and complete statutory reports as required. Ensure the home operates within budgetary constraints, achieving financial efficiency without compromising care quality. Engagement and Relationships: Develop positive relationships with children, staff, families, and external agencies to create a collaborative and supportive environment. Represent the home in professional meetings, reviews, and other forums to advocate for the needs of children. Person Specification: Essential Qualifications: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent (or willingness to achieve within 18 months). Extensive knowledge of Childrens Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards. Experience: Proven experience in managing a childrens home or similar setting. Demonstrated expertise in safeguarding, risk management, and care planning. Experience leading, mentoring, and developing staff teams. Skills and Competencies: Strong leadership and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results under pressure. Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, including Ofsted inspection criteria. Desirable: Experience supporting children with complex needs, including autism, learning disabilities, or trauma.
