* Interview date: 14 January 2025 - 17 January 2025
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Housing Systems Administrator to work at Crawley Borough Council within Crawley Homes on a fixed term contract, as we transform services to better understand our customers and deliver change in line with new regulatory expectations.
Crawley Homes is our landlord service, managing a combination of over 9 500 council and leasehold homes.
We are reaching the end of phase two of a three phase implementation of Active-H, a fully integrated Housing Management system covering all aspects of the housing service. The system is provided by and supported by MIS/Incline. Although this role is based in the housing service and requires basic understanding of the services provided, its main responsibilities are of a technical systems nature that will involve the maintenance, development and enhancement of the system.
Your role will include day-to-day administration of the system including creating new users and role permissions, creating queries and reports from the system, monitoring of interfaces between the housing system and other key council systems. You will triage user issues to determine whether they can be resolved in-house or escalated to our supplier for resolution. You will run key end-of-year processes (e.g. rent uplifts) and ensure that system upgrades are managed and tested effectively before being made live. The role holder will provide support and training to end users, enabling them to deliver their tasks in the most efficient way possible.
You will be part of small, but growing Policy and Engagement Team and play an instrumental role in data capture and reporting to ensure the strongest accountability, transparency and understanding of our services. Although you will report to the Policy and Engagement Manager, your work will be across the division and its teams. The successful candidate will see this role as an opportunity to improve and enhance system processes by using all technical resources available to the council.
You will have excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach, plus experience of supporting business application systems, developing reports and workflows and using SQL. A robust understanding of GDPR, Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation and project management principles are a must. Experience of working within a social housing setting or of using the ActiveH housing management system would be desirable but not essential. You will be given appropriate Systems Administration training on this specific Application.
We are looking for applicants who are:
* willing to learn and determined to succeed both academically and professionally
* computer literate with the drive to enhance to a higher level of systems technical ability – have a good standard of Microsoft Excel spreadsheet skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Outlook. Experience in systems administration would be advantageous
* a good team player who can work collaboratively with colleagues from across the Council and who will go beyond the role boundaries to deliver to the highest level of service
* a person willing to own a task and see it through from initiation to completion
Initially this will be a fixed-term post as the role develops, enabling us to refine and adjust as necessary to ensure continuous improvement throughout the service
The council currently operate a hybrid working model with a minimum requirement of 2 days a week in the office, with staff able to work the rest of the week from home.
You must have the right to live and work in the UK.
We recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible, as we may close this advert before the stated closing date if enough applications are received.
