This position reports to the Heritage Lead Mechanic or their designee in Banbury, UK. Responsible for the inventory and management of stock levels for the Heritage Department, working cross functionally to ensure accuracy and compliance with FIA regulations. Expected to attend all Heritage Car associated events.
Key Responsibilities:
* Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
* Mentor, train, and guide personnel as required. Develop staff and department processes to enable efficient workflow.
* Required to demonstrate a company-focused attitude to organize and guide the team whilst keeping morale high under difficult circumstances or tight deadlines.
* Collaborate and work closely with the Heritage Lead Mechanic and Heritage Setup & Transport Coordinator daily regarding workloads and service requirements on Heritage car parts ensuring tight deadlines are adhered to.
* Assist and work with the Parts Coordinators managing the turnaround and flow of composite components between the track, factory, and suppliers.
* Responsibility for the cleanliness and condition of the work area.
* Follow Engineering procedures and protocols as dictated by the Haas F1 Team pertaining to assembly, operation, and safety.
* Ownership and management of stock-controlled parts covering the Heritage group.
* Work with the trackside team to ensure Turnaround Sheets and Event Planner documents are pre-populated accordingly in line with strip and build plans stipulated by the RTS Manager, Chief Mechanics and Heritage Lead Mechanic.
* Support the Race Team Support Manager when required with Parts Allocation, Turnaround Planning and Parts Management of Heritage components.
* Work with external suppliers and technical partners to ensure correct and timely component deliveries.
* Work closely with the SPC group to ensure UIIL and Inventory alignment between Heritage, PMO and SPC.
* Work with the procurement and planning departments feeding back Heritage shortages and highlight components for reorder, raising requisitions on behalf of the Heritage group.
* Raise requisitions on behalf of the Heritage Department for specific items needed to conduct tasks, working closely with the RTS Manager to follow budgets whilst managing proposed and actual costs.
* Work closely with the DO and Reliability on Faults to ensure all actions/remedies are in place and to offer solutions/fixes or plans to ensure there are no repeat occurrences.
* Have a good understanding of all car parts, processes, and procedures.
* Follow Lifing and UIIL requirements to ensure full compliance is met in line with the regulations and team’s expectations – this includes having the Heritage Car’s built correctly on to relevant lifing systems.
* Support the Race Team, RTS and SPC Departments when necessary.
* Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
* Other duties as assigned by the Heritage Lead Mechanic or their designee.
Education and Work Experience:
GCSE, High School diploma or equivalent required. Further education including Trade School, Apprenticeship or University Degree desired.
4 years of work experience, 2 of which must be in a similar role within Formula 1, World Sports Cars or F2. However, consideration will be given to a candidate who can demonstrate professionalism and a sound record of service within the Motorsport Industry.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
* Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
* Have an excellent understanding of the English language.
* Strong technical background in racing car.
* A comprehensive mechanical understanding gained in Formula 1 motor racing.
* An ability to read and interpret technical drawings and information pertaining to assembly, periodic updates and modifications.
* The ability to consistently work to the highest standards with an exceptional attitude towards attention to detail.
* Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time-sensitive situations.
* Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way.
* Work well within a team environment with personnel at all levels.
* A sympathetic approach to work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment.
* A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.
Equipment and Applications:
* Solid computer knowledge, preferred experience in Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Dynamics AX and 3DX.
* Mechanical aptitude.
* Ability to follow complex regulations related to shipment of materials and facility maintenance requirements.
Work Environment Physical Demands:
An ability to work and prioritize within a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require some domestic, international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.
This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
