Mechanical Engineer - Birmingham
Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off (2 days: 07:00-19:00, 2 nights: 19:00-07:00)
Pay: Circa £20 per hour
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Birmingham team. You will work on a shift pattern of 4 on, 4 off, maintaining and repairing essential mechanical systems and installations.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repairs:
Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and remedial work on systems including:
Air Handling Units (AHUs), Fan Coil Units (FCUs), split AC units.
Taps, TMVs (Thermostatic Mixing Valves), heating, and cooling systems.
Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs on plant and equipment.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
Follow all statutory codes of practice and site-specific safety rules.
Flexibility and Development:
Support operations in sensitive areas such as ITU, A&E, and Operating Theatres.
Learn new techniques and adapt to changes in work schedules when needed.
Stand in for supervisors during periods of absence.
Required Skills and Experience
City & Guilds or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
Indentured apprenticeship or equivalent training.
Knowledge and experience with AHUs, FCUs, split AC units, and other HVAC systems.
Ability to work independently from drawings, instructions, and specifications.
Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces (training provided).
