EC&I Engineer – Isle of Grain, Kent.

Murphy is currently recruiting for an EC&I Engineer to join our award-winning Energy team in the Isle of Grain, Kent. Our team is known for its extensive in-house expertise and continual drive to innovate within the industry. The EC&I Engineer oversee for the day-to-day management of Electrical, control, and instrumentation installation projects whilst providing technical advice.
Following the ‘One Murphy’ approach, we’re able to deliver all aspects of the projects we work on. Murphy has designed, constructed, and commissioned projects for clients including National Grid, Cadent Gas, OPA, SGN, National Grid Ventures, on both transmission and distribution networks. Our projects include Compressor stations, Natural Gas and LNG Terminals, AGI’s, pipelines and diversions.
What you will be doing:
1. Conducting risk assessments, design, pricing, procurement, scope of works and quality assurance of EC&I works.
2. Supervising a team of in-house EC&I technicians and sub-contractors, ensuring that work is carried out to a high standard and in compliance with relevant EC&I regulations and procedures.
3. Manage works and liaise between disciplines, EC&I contractors, and client
4. Manage and organise permits, RAMS, ITP’s, EC&I installation, ATEX Inspections, and collation of documentation ready for client submission.
5. Conducting quality control checks on completed work to ensure that it meets the required standards.
6. Providing technical support and advice to other members of the team
7. Establish and promote best practice in health, safety, and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE department.
8. Take a personal interest in identifying, coaching, and developing key staff.
9. Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including any changes/variations, subcontractors’ attendance, and records of work-related discussions with client / designer / project team.
10. Ensure that inspection and test plans are completed as required by the PMP / Specification, including a check of dimension accuracy and quality.
Who are we looking for?
11. HNC or equivalent(s)
12. Qualified Electrician with appropriate technical qualifications such as level 2 electrical installation, 18th edition, 2391, etc.
13. Compressive knowledge of all current regulations and British standards relating to EC&I installations and good knowledge of relevant practice and legislation
14. Excellent communication, with the ability to build strong working relationships with clients and other stakeholders.
15. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve their best.
16. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
17. Experience within the Oil and Gas industry or similar.
