Due to retirement an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Nurse to join Hull and East Riding Community Stroke Service. This service is provided by a multidisciplinary team comprised of Specialist Stroke Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Associate Practitioners and Administrative support.
The Nursing team aim to see all Stroke patients within the area, supporting them during the first 6 months of their stroke journey, through secondary prevention advice and support in making good lifestyle choices. The Nursing role in the bedded unit includes but is not limited to, ongoing assessment, performing injections and blood tests, catheterisation, monitoring and treatment of skin integrity. Student supervision is also a regular part of the Nursing role.
The team provides specialist stroke rehabilitation, using a goal setting approach, both in the Community and in a Stroke Recovery Unit.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant would support the nursing team in ensuring the care needs of the patients are met in both Rossmore and follow up into the patient's own home. Mentorship and supervision are provided by the senior staff within a friendly, multidisciplinary, supportive environment.
The Nursing team offer a 365-day service. The ability to commute within the Trusts geographical area with access to the appropriate means of transport is essential.

3. Relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
