An exciting opportunity has arisen to take on a Teacher Practitioner role within the Pharmacy team at George Eliot Hospital and Aston University School of Pharmacy. This post is ideal for someone with an interest in teaching, whilst waiting to retain their clinical skills and knowledge. The post holder would take an honorary clinical teaching fellow position at the university and lead on the undergraduate placement programme at the Trust. The post is 50% based at Aston University and 50% based at the Trust in a clinical setting.
Main duties of the job
* To lead, plan and participate in the delivery of teaching and assessment to Aston Pharmacy School students within the University and George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust
* To act as a personal tutor to Aston Pharmacy School students, providing pastoral support and academic guidance to named tutees.
* To participate in the delivery of practice-based clinical teaching of students in the portfolio of programmes within Aston Pharmacy School.
* To participate in the development of teaching, learning, and assessment processes for Aston Pharmacy School.
* To participate in the delivery of careers advice to Aston Pharmacy School students.
* To support research projects carried out by internal staff or Aston University Students.
* To provide specialist clinical governance support to the department and wider trust which may include procedure and guidance review, audit work, benchmarking and quality indicator/key performance indicators design and review.
* Be a leading member of the Pharmacy Based Risk and Governance Group (RaGG) and Standards and Guidance Group (StaGG)
* To produce pharmacy governance reports for delivery at directorate governance groups.

Job responsibilities
* The post will also include being the lead for clinical governance within the Pharmacy department at George Eliot Hospital. You will work closely alongside the Medication Safety Officer to ensure the delivery of the pharmacy service is in line with the principles of good governance. You will support safe and effective medicines management whilst ensuring compliance with national guidelines and local policies.
The post will require the post holder to participate in a 7-day working programme, on a rota basis and our out of hours on-call service.
Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge
Essential
* Professional knowledge acquired through the vocational masters degree in pharmacy or equivalent
* 1 years pre-registration experience
* A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in a relevant role practicing as a pharmacist
* Previous teaching experience
* Demonstrable experience in training of other healthcare professionals
* Audit and Research experience
* Demonstrable commitment to CPD
Qualifications and professional training
Essential
* Vocational Master's Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
* Pre-registration training and successful completion of relevant examination
* Job related postgraduate qualification eg. Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma, or equivalent vocational experience
* Completion of the Independent Prescribing Course
* Current membership of General Pharmaceutical Council
Desirable
* Post-graduate teaching qualification or willingness to work towards
* Member of National/ International Specialist Organisation
