Due to the growth of GNT UK Ltd as a subsidiary of the GNT Group we are seeking a:
Lab assistant / Lab technician (M/F, PT 25hrs contract over 5 days)
£17,860.00 actual salary based on 25 hours per week
What do we expect of you?
This is a great opportunity for an ambitious individual to work in a unique position within a food application laboratory that combines both house care / stock keeping duties but also supporting tasks in the development kitchen alongside our food technologists. The right person will join our local Applications team and work closely with our Food Technologists to guarantee appropriate supplies are available for efficient and on time laboratory project management (packaging, ingredients, equipment…). You will play an integral part in achieving our mission by providing laboratory based operational and technical support enabling the team to showcase GNT’s EXBERRY Coloring Food products and their application in recipes to customers and to support business development.
Job description
These are some of the tasks which we would anticipate the role could cover:
House care duties including;
* Daily tasks (dishwasher clearance, calibration of pH probes, etc.),
* Weekly tasks (water flush, lab stock management, lab workwear, etc.),
* Monthly tasks (plant care, monitoring of stability equipment, stocking up consumables, etc.),
* Quarterly tasks (sanitising tap filters, monitoring of temperature probes & scales, etc.),
* Annual tasks (inventories / stock taking, cleaning of fridge/freezers, etc.)
General duties to include;
* Help the team in maintaining a tidy organisation in the laboratory / storage areas / reception
* Support technical activities alongside Food Technologists such as taking photos, help with preparing Powerpoint reports, rotation of samples on stability test, help in the pilot plant area when working on large scale, prepare simple food demo concepts
* Support marketing activities such as taking food stylist photos
* Support Reception with dispatch of samples using courier online platforms (DHL/UPS)
* Stock keeping duties including maintaining database up to date and dispose of old stock / organise order requests for reordering new stock across a wide range of items (packaging, ingredients, chemicals/ COSHH, food demo concepts, marketing giveaways, cleaning products, refreshments, stationery, etc.)
* Organise and maintain equipment log and documentation, coordinate servicing and repairs when required
* Search for new suppliers when required in order to reduce our operating costs where possible, maintain database of suppliers’ contacts
* Occasional cover on Reception (receive deliveries and answer the phone)

* Basic knowledge of food ingredients and broad awareness of food categories would be a benefit
* A person with a strong passion for food would be an advantage
* Capable of taking initiatives proactively to optimize ways of working and suggest improvements
* Ability to maintain a safe and clean working environment
* Fluent in English
