Required Supervision and Guidance: Supervised by Lead Production Chemist / Production Supervisor as appropriate. Works with minimal direction according to SOPs, goals and current job requirements. Gives to the weekly schedule and then generally works to this schedule. Main Position Objectives Synthesis, purification, formulation and QC of products according to SOPs, with due regard to product availability and integrity. Decisions taken affect the quality and integrity of products. Additional responsibilities include: 1) Instrument calibration according to schedule 2) maintaining laboratory housekeeping standards and consumable supplies 3) leading process improvement projects, and supplying to the resolution of quality issues 4) training of others and 5) participating in activities to support safety regulations. Main Tasks: Working in ISO 5 & ISO 7 clean rooms, wearing personal respirator hood PPE. DNA synthesis on AKTA platforms. Use of Reverse Phase and Ion Exchange HPLCs for purification of products. Performs intermediate QC of primers. Formulation of intermediate bulks using UV-Vis Spectroscopy. Routine maintenance of associated laboratory equipment. Completes documentation to GDP standards. Maintenance of the clean room environment, including clean transfer of Kan-ban materials into the clean-room. Operator would be required to partake in regular particle reduction cleans to maintain the ISO 5 and ISO 7 areas. Responsible for supporting and aligning with the Company's safety and hazardous waste management program, including safe hazardous waste handling and good housekeeping Assisting with PRs and investigations when problems arise. Continuous improvement in understanding of quality and productivity concepts as they apply to all work performed, services offered, communications and products. Required Job Qualifications and Education Science degree and/or manufacturing experience of working within a cleanroom environment. Experience working with hazardous materials. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, meet targets and complete paperwork. Other demands Experience of SAP and other relevant systems which support the Manufacturing processes, such as Trackwise and Agile. Lean and PPI knowledge and understanding Key skills & abilities: Able to handle workload independently within the scope of activities agreed with the Team Leader. Flexible approach to work and willingness to learn. Ability to work well alone and as a team. The employment will involve some manual handling. Ability to prioritise and work under pressure with strict attention to details.
