Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and ambitious candidate to join the Division of Medicine, Diagnostics and Clinical Support Services as a Business Support Manager.
Reporting to the Deputy Divisional Operations Director, the role will involve working with medical, nursing and administrative colleagues to help support services to deliver safe and effective care to patients and contribute to shaping services for the future.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking someone to:
1. Assist and support the Deputy Divisional Operations Director in the provision of services to ensure the Trust achieves both internal and national targets i.e. wait time targets, NHS cancer targets in order to ensure compliance with National Standards.
2. Assist in the development of systems to improve Waiting List Management and Compliance.
3. Assist with business planning and profiling of activity.
4. Manage Resident doctors rotas and support doctors rotas on other sites when needed.
5. Be the focus of communication and the main point of contact for Acute Medicine, General Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Hospital at Night to aid the smooth running of the departments.
6. Be responsible for the line management of the administrative staff and ensure the smooth running of the directorate in relation to its administration functions, managing the administrative, clerical and secretarial needs of the directorate and ensuring that activity targets are met in line with the patient access policy.
The ideal candidate will have an exceptional work ethic, be flexible and adaptable, and organized. They will possess an appetite for learning new skills and processes and be passionate about patient care. Experience with patient waiting lists is preferable, but not essential. A good working knowledge of all Microsoft packages would be advantageous.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The role will involve working across a number of speciality areas and services, as an integral member of the Division. The role will involve working with Nursing, Medical and Administration staff, whilst keeping close working relationships with the other Business Support Managers, Operational Managers and other functional managers within the division.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Educated to foundation degree level, or have relevant equivalent knowledge and experience within a similar role.
* Experience in a senior administrative role.
Desirable criteria
* Experience within a healthcare setting, preferably in a senior role.
* Working knowledge of administrative procedures.
Experience
Essential criteria
* Supervisory experience and staff management.
* Experience of working autonomously, carrying out functions on behalf of a senior management team, following processes to support delivery of key objectives, and using own judgement to take work forward.
* Good IT skills and use of Microsoft, Excel etc.
Desirable criteria
* Experience in managing people including performance management.
