We are looking for a bright, organised, efficient individual with an eye for detail to join our small prescription (POD) team which comprises of a Clinical Pharmacist and Prescription Clerks. Our POD team have their own dedicated office but work closely with all members of the practice team, in particular the Reception team and GPs to ensure all patient queries and requests are dealt with in a timely manner.
We would prefer you to work full-time but would be open to discussing part-time hours as long as you were able to commit to working every Monday and Friday from 08:30 to 17:00.
You would act as the focal point of communication between all members of staff, patients, pharmacies and hospitals, to ensure patients' repeat medication is produced within current surgery protocols. You would carry out duties with a positive attitude and approach towards problem solving, and uphold and deliver the values, standards, aims, objectives and expectations of Penn Hill Surgery.
Main duties of the job
Job Responsibilities
1. Strict adherence to patient confidentiality at all times
2. Process prescription requests in accordance with the current repeat prescribing protocol
3. Receive prescription queries from patients, pharmacies and all members of staff, and understand who to approach for help.
4. Enter relevant patient information accurately into Emis Web as required
5. Action tasks on Emis on a daily basis
6. Action patient requests on AskMyGP and sent by email
7. Check patient records for chronic disease reviews and book accordingly if due
8. Monthly drug monitoring using built in searches within Emis & booking relevant appointments
9. Use the Prescription Tracker to establish the status of electronic prescriptions
10. Contact other surgeries requesting medication summaries for new patients if needed
11. Liaise with hospital staff, community mental health team, turning point with reference to discharge and clinic letters
12. Scan documents into patients notes if needed
13. Liaise with pharmacies regarding queries, updating them on medication changes to blister packs, and arranging any urgent action required
14. Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners or Managers as indicated in the employment contract.

Job Summary

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Hours negotiable if part-time working preferable. Hours worked must however cover Mondays and Fridays 8.30am to 5pm)
Salary: £12.00 to £12.50 per hour depending on experience

Qualifications
* 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English
* General Practice Assistant (GPA), Pharmacy Technician, Dispenser or Health Care Assistant
Experience
* Experience of working in a customer service environment
* Experience of using a clinical medical system, or similar
* Experience of Microsoft Office software
* Experience of dealing with the public/patients
* Previous experience in a similar role
* Experience in pharmacy or healthcare
* Experience of using Emis Web
* Knowledge of primary care in the NHS.
