About the Role:
To undertake all statutory duties as required by legislation and deliver a statutory social work service to adults with substance use problems as part of the Integrated Alcohol Service (IAS).
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
1. Professional Social Work Qualification (BA Social Work qualification or equivalent DipSW, CQSW)
2. SSSC Registration
3. PVG
The postholder is able to demonstrate:
Skills & Experience in:
1. Ability to relate to and work with a wide range of professionals, service users, and carers including dealing with people in crisis who are distressed, or unwell with a wide range of complex needs
2. Ability to manage risk
3. Ability to assess and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a range of individuals including service users and other professionals
4. The ability to manage constant and often conflicting demands, manage priorities, time and meet deadlines
5. Interviewing, investigation and assessment skills
6. Counselling and support skills
7. Decision making skills, responsibility for own practice, seeking advice and support as necessary
8. Ability to maintain an outcome focus
9. Ability to use financial resources appropriately
Understanding of:
1. Practice, policy and procedure relevant to the post
2. Adult and Child Protection
3. Anti-discriminatory practice
4. Working directly with service users in crisis, their families and carers
5. ICT systems and office procedures including administration and using computer packages including Microsoft Office
Commitment to:
1. Adult Support and Protection training up to level 4 (Council Officer)
2. Training in relevant legislation to meet the requirements of the post
