Lorien's long-standing client, an award-winning Scottish success story, is looking to expand their team on the back of a brand-new recruitment drive and a boom in business demand for a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer.
You'll be heading up a squad putting their skills to good use; contributing towards the success of a firm who have already improved the lives of millions around the globe. It's a great time to join, too, as they're in the middle of significant internal investment in their products and staff.
In return, you'll join a supportive firm very well versed in keeping their staff happy, offering a generous bonus scheme, regular salary reviews, hybrid working and flexible hours, plenty of opportunities to progress professionally and technically, and a range of other benefits designed with employees in mind.
You'll take the reins across the areas below, and enjoy working for an organisation giving something back to the world while upskilling yourself and tackling something new each week:
1. Head up the Mechanical Design team; offering strategic and technical leadership as well as line management to your direct reports; driving this team of dedicated Engineers forward.
2. Lead the full cycle for the design and realisation of new systems architecture from requirements phases and concept generation through to development, verification, testing, and release.
3. Utilize your expertise to improve the product portfolio as well as the wider function while working at the helm of a dedicated squad.
4. Ensure best practice, smooth delivery, and effectiveness of mechanical designs delivered.
5. Communicate plans to other relevant departments to ensure alignment and collaboration towards common goals.
And here's what they'd like you to bring to the table:
1. Mechanical Design background ideally in an established R&D setting with precision/fine mechanics.
2. Team leadership skills and a proven track record in managing and driving others.
3. 3D CAD modelling skills, with experience in Solidworks (or CREO/similar and willing to cross-train).
4. Hands-on background covering design, build, verification, as well as a strong understanding of 'Design For...' methodologies.
5. Strong grasp of manufacturing processes and relevant regulations.
6. Willingness to investigate new technologies and skills, and knowledge-share while leading a collaborative and close-knit technical team.
