My client is looking to appoint a Site Manager for a project in the Northampton area on a long-term freelance basis. The project is to start in February 2025 and is planned to be between 12 and 18 months in duration.
My client is a main contractor who delivers projects across a range of sectors including health, education, highways, justice, defence, and industrial. This particular site is a large-scale industrial project with new build, refurbishment, demolition, and fit-out elements.
The role will be site-based, with critical responsibility for the management and success of the sections of the project, including client relations, health and safety, quality, environmental, programme, and the cost/value of operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Providing leadership and energy;
2. Ensuring the construction works run to strict programme;
3. Maintaining strict quality control procedures;
4. Leading regular site meetings with all interested parties;
5. Conducting regular site safety checks;
6. Being proactive in the identification and resolution of problems;
7. Maintaining effective long-term relationships with the customer and their representatives/advisors;
8. Reviewing methods of working, alternative materials, etc. to maximise commercial profitability;
9. Seeking and developing ongoing continuous improvement;
10. Implementing and maintaining the Company's Policies for Sustainability, Health and Safety, Quality, Environmental, Training and Development, etc. and acting as an exemplar of the Company culture and values;
11. Coaching and motivating subordinates.
Experience and Qualifications
1. Detailed knowledge of building regulations;
2. Experience of a similar role working for a main contractor (essential);
3. Professional qualification (desirable);
4. SMSTS;
5. First Aid;
6. CITB level 3 Safety Course;
7. CSCS Card – Appropriate level;
8. Strong leadership and management skills;
9. Technical knowledge and experience;
10. Commercial and financial awareness;
11. Excellent interpersonal skills;
12. Understanding of different contracts e.g. NEC, JCT.
