Purpose of the Role
As a Resettlement & Community Links Caseworker, you’ll play a pivotal role in protecting the public, reducing reoffending, and contributing to the safety and wellbeing of women in custody. Your work will involve assessing offenders' risk levels and criminogenic needs, providing case management, and supporting them with resettlement preparation. You'll collaborate with various agencies and prison departments to deliver high-quality service and ensure a successful reintegration into society.
Key Responsibilities:
* Case Management : Manage a caseload of 40-60 women in custody. Conduct regular assessments, provide support and motivation, and assist with resettlement planning.
* Collaboration : Work closely with IOMU colleagues, the National Probation Service, Community Rehabilitation Companies, and other partner agencies to ensure comprehensive sentence planning, risk management, and resettlement support.
* Risk Assessment & Management : Use the Offender Assessment System (OASys) and other tools to assess offenders' risk of reoffending and harm to themselves or others. Contribute to sentence planning and multi-agency meetings, including MAPPA and ROTL boards.
* Compliance & Reporting : Complete Part 1 of the Basic Custody Screening Tool (BCST) and OASys assessments within the required timeframes. Provide reports for Parole, Home Detention Curfew (HDC), and other relevant processes.
* Team Support : Act as a role model to promote pro-social behaviour, assist with departmental meetings, and support team targets.

* Essential Skills & Experience :
o Strong ability to build professional, pro-social relationships with residents, colleagues, and external agencies.
o Experience in assessing risks, writing reports, and making defensible decisions based on data analysis.
o Knowledge of the 9 Pathways to Reducing Re-offending, particularly for women.
o Non-judgmental and compassionate understanding of the challenges women face in custody and reintegration.
o Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
o Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Desirable Experience :
o Previous experience in a custodial or offender management setting (paid or voluntary).
o Familiarity with risk assessment, housing issues, and working with challenging behaviours.
o A degree in criminology, sociology, psychology, or a related field is beneficial.
