As a Travel Claims Underwriter, you will be responsible for reviewing misrepresentations in policy data and breaches in policy terms and conditions which are detected during the claim process. You will support and advise the Claims Department and work with the wider business in fraud detection and risk prevention.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Reviewing and investigating misrepresentation in policy information
2. Dealing with referrals from the Claims Department regarding policy issues
3. Making policy amendments in line with changing information
4. Ensure the Retro screen process guide is followed when completing retro screens
5. Cross-referencing other policies and quotes when discrepancies are identified
6. Policy cancellations and reinstatements
7. Policy avoidance and claim repudiations
8. Covering the Claims Underwriting telephone loop, aiding internal and external customers
9. Dealing with post and tasks within Department Quality targets
10. Managing your own files and caseload
11. Providing feedback and making suggestions to improve the customer journey and our process
Key Skills Required
1. Experience working in a Healthcare service
2. Ability to pay close attention to detail
3. Good communication skills and telephone manner
4. Friendly and approachable attitude towards other staff members and customers
5. Awareness of the Consumer Insurance (Disclosure and Representations) Act 2012
6. Good written skills, including letter writing
7. Ability to deal with serious or sensitive issues in an appropriate manner
8. Good investigation, decision making, and problem-solving skills
9. High degree of self-motivation and a desire to learn
