Position Summary:
Reporting to the SVP & Chief Accounting Officer, the PFG VP, Controller will ensure the soundness of the Company's financial reporting by planning and directing financial accounting activities, from SEC filings and implementations of changing GAAP standards to period, quarterly, and annual closes. S/he will manage all SEC filings and reporting responsibilities, including implementing systems and processes to ensure regulatory compliance. Additionally, the VP, Controller will use their strong GAAP and SEC knowledge to provide support for technical accounting, Sarbanes Oxley procedures and other special projects as assigned. The Controller will support merger & acquisition diligence and integration activities.
* Manages external reporting and auditor relationships, Corporate SOX compliance, corporate accounting and monthly internal reporting and analysis for a $60+ billion corporation
* Directs the preparation of monthly/quarterly closing processes, including account analyses and activities to ensure financial statements are complete and accurate through a demonstrated thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC requirements. Provides deep technical expertise as it relates to application of SEC and GAAP regulations and requirements
* Leads due diligence and financial integration workstreams for a highly acquisitive company including valuation and on-going integration activities.
* Provides leadership in Company's fund raising with Treasury Dept and Investment Bankers for Debt and Equity Offerings
* Act as a consultative resource across the organization with Legal (legal accruals/proxy); IR (press releases); Fleet/Treasury (lease accounting), Internal Audit (external audit and SOX); IT (systems); HR/Payroll (bonus/executive comp/stock comp) and Shared Services (close process & efficiencies).
* Develops, analyzes and interprets statistical and accounting information to provide analytical support for management and operating locations. Prepare requested management reports for management and customers.
* Leads, mentors, and develops a team of professional accounting and finance resources.
* Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business of related area
10+ years leading and accounting or finance functions including managing a team of accounting and/or finance professionals.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Experience should include a steady progression of leadership roles in technical and operational accounting and business analytics.
Additionally, experience should include both public accounting as well as Corporate accounting experience in a publicly held company in a large, decentralized, multi-state environment where demonstrated technical expertise of GAAP and SEC regulations were required.
Specific experience leading SEC reporting a must. SAP experience is a plus. Must possess strong business and financial acumen and a bias for action.
Proven ability to lead and develop large teams with an equal ability to "roll-up your sleeves".
Exceptional business acumen with attention to detail and analytical skills to interpret and evaluate data.
Outstanding communication skills to interface with senior leadership and external partners.
Must have experience in both leading and conducting due diligence (including buy-side Quality of Earnings assessments) and managing integrations as a result of mergers and acquisitions.
