Role Summary Working as a member of the Assisted Travel Airside Driver Team, you will drive the Company's specialist vehicles on the airfield to transfer passengers with reduced mobility (PRM's) from the aircraft to the terminal building or from the terminal building to the aircraft. The vehicles range from minibuses to Class 2 rigid heavy good type vehicles, with a capacity from 6 to 20 seats. You will assist PRM's onto the aircraft, to their seat or into vehicles or terminal buildings, involving passenger and manual handling techniques. You will be trained as a customer care agent for all terminal duties and as a specialist driver. Driving of Ambilift hi-lift & minibus vehicles airside at Birmingham International Airport. To undertake additional training for continuous self-development Stay alert to threats or changes in the work environment to reduce disruption, loss or damage. Use initiative by involving others if a situation appears threatening. Maintain professional conduct in difficult situations and challenging customers. Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to MITIE and the Client. Call emergency services and report incidents. Follow instructions from airfield ground operations. Coaching of new staff when required for on-job training. Main Duties & Responsibilities Wear the correct uniform and PPE as per company requirements. Complete daily Vehicle Check Sheet on Merlin, reporting any vehicle defaults. Drive Company vehicles ensuring safety and security at all times. Organize efficient transport of PRM's and companions to aircraft, ensuring on-time departures. Use a PDA ensuring compliance with time stamping for location purposes. Coordinate the boarding / disembarkation of PRM's from vehicles or air bridges. Overall responsibility for the use of the Ambilift vehicle, including its controls. Driving of minibuses and terminal buggies when required. Marshal vehicles when required. Keep vehicles clean and tidy of FOD. Deliver or collect passengers at the aircraft door, assisting with safe manual handling. Operate the vehicle safely near aircraft using safety systems. Induct and train new assisted travel drivers. Carry out efficient handovers to oncoming drivers. Report security risks or breaches throughout the airport. Assist in severe weather conditions, ensuring safety and security. Promote a safe working environment by raising awareness of risks. Understand MITIE policies and protocols. Follow airport rules and regulations diplomatically and assertively. Ensure all passengers are treated with dignity and respect. Complete Customer Care Agent duties within the terminal when required. Ensure the Allocator is updated on job progress using PDA's and Radio. Process passengers' EMA's as per company policy. Be flexible in service delivery when required. Provide tailored support for individual passenger needs. Perform any other adhoc duty required by the client or Operations manager.
