Strategic Sourcing Manager (New Product Development)

The Role:
Working within the Technical and Development Centre (TDC) teams to define and guide the implementation of Strategic Sourcing strategy for New Product Developments and Product Redesigns in accordance with the Watlow Global Supply Chain and Strategic Sourcing strategies, whilst communicating the required technologies and commercial opportunities within the New Product Developments.
Ensure early project Sourcing and Supplier influence and involvement in key technologies and commercially strategic decisions, to identify innovation and support from the supplier base, whilst tracking and monitoring key targets and budgets, e.g. Project NRE; BOM cost identification and control; maintain/improve production lead times and time to market targets.
Set up quotations, negotiations, and engagements with suppliers for the supply of chosen materials, and ensure that appropriate levels of Supply Agreements are in place. E.g. MSA, SOW, Tool Lending, SaaS Licensing, etc.
Manage the transitions from Development into Production, in conjunction with chosen Manufacturing sites.
Support Contracting and Licensing of Software, Services, and contractors in the environment of TDC use/need.
Responsibilities:
* Create, Implement, and Maintain a defined Watlow process for NPD Sourcing interaction with Production/Purchasing/Supply Chain, and TDC.
* Strategic Sourcing guidance and support to TDC teams, on New Product Developments, Redesigns, Enhancements, and Upgrades, Tactical variant creation.
* Review Make V Buy decision making and strategies, Agile and Lean tools, and best practices.
* Creation and implementation of Watlow Global and Regional Supply Chain Sourcing strategies and contracts.
* Commercial negotiations and contracting with suppliers during project execution. Will include working with Legal Teams to ensure generation and standardization of various formal agreements. E.g. NDA, MSA, Tooling, SOW, Licensing, etc.
* Market investigations and communications of supplier and manufacturer technology roadmaps.
* Quotation, Negotiations, and Awards management.
* Cost tracking of BOM, Tooling and NRE Project costs/overheads. (working with Design and Industrialization)
* Investigate technology and commercial opportunities with Design teams, from existing and new supply base. E.g. Technology Roadmaps and Strategies.
* Ensure and monitor supplier performance, commitment, and support to co-design and development activities.
* New supplier identification, audit, and approval as needed. Targeting Best-in-Class suppliers, technology, and processing.
* Ensure appropriate level of contracting is in place to cover key and critical vendor engagements, Product and Service suppliers.
* Manage commercial and supply transitions from Development to Production phase, includes Pre-Production stock profiling, guide ERP, Forecasting, initial Production PO creation is set up correctly.
* Work within defined project teams, and with originators of specific requirements.
* Be aware, communicate, and influence forward business planning, eg Product and Technology Roadmaps.
* Commercial, Sourcing, Legal, and Finance capability and experience. Min 10yrs.
* Appropriate level of technical understanding and ability to communicate internal and external requirements.
* Ability to understand, lead and influence internal decision making, commercially and technically at project, business, and strategic level.
* Understanding of internal and external design, manufacturing, and qualification processes.
* Creative and reactive, to bring added value to project planning and solutions.
* Ability to communicate, manage, and negotiate with suppliers.
* Flexible responsiveness, and good time & project management.
* Positive, analytical, and strategic thinking.
* Ability to travel regionally and globally.
* Minimum English writing and speaking essential.
