We’re looking for caring and dedicated Health Care Support Workers to join our Adult Inpatient Unit at Dougie Mac. Our 26-bedded unit provides specialist palliative care for individuals with life-limiting conditions, offering both symptom management and end-of-life care.
As part of our friendly, multi-disciplinary team, you’ll play a vital role in delivering person-centred care, supporting patients and their families during some of the most critical moments of their lives. Our team is available 24/7, ensuring patients receive the best possible care in a compassionate and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in providing holistic care and support to patients.
* Support patients in their last days of life, offering comfort and dignity.
* Work within care plans, ensuring accurate documentation is maintained.
* Provide emotional support to patients and families, creating a compassionate environment.
* Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.
* Follow all hospice policies, confidentiality procedures, and infection control guidelines.
* Participate in training and professional development to maintain high care standards.
About You
You’ll be a compassionate and empathetic individual with a passion for delivering high-quality care to patients in a palliative setting. You’ll thrive in a team environment, working alongside nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible patient experience.
We’re looking for someone who has:
* Experience in a caring role, ideally within a healthcare or hospice setting.
* A caring, compassionate, and professional approach to patient care.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
* A willingness to learn and develop within the role.
* GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent), or a willingness to complete training.
* An NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health & Social Care (desirable but not essential).
* Flexibility to work both day and night shifts as part of a 24/7 service

Salary: £23,874.98 FTE + 20% Anti-social
Hours: 37.5 hours – part time contract available
