This post is a career grade post commencing at Accountant level and progressing to Schools Technical Accountant and then to Finance Manager on completion of CIPFA training.
The post is based in the Schools Finance Team and will give the post holder experience of Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG) funding for schools, statutory returns, review and monitoring of school budget returns, preparation and presentation of reports to Schools Forum, and ad hoc queries alongside the day to day support provided for schools and the SEND service. In addition, the postholder will undertake financial forecasting and modelling in relation to DSG and High Needs.
You will need to be able to work accurately under pressure, working as part of a team but able to use your own initiative.
Training to become a fully qualified CIPFA accountant will be provided with the postholder stepping up from Accountant to Schools Technical Accountant on successful completion of CIPFA year 2 exams, and progression to Finance Manager on completion of the CIPFA Professional Accountancy Qualification. Time for off the job training to complete CIPFA PAQ will be offered.
Only support for CIPFA PAQ will be given, however, consideration will be given to fully qualified accountants with other professional bodies who would like to gain experience in schools and DSG funding.
