We are looking for passionate, dedicated and highly motivated individuals to be part of a transforming team at Prospect Place Male Psychiatric Unit (45 bedded unit) at Birch Hill Hospital.

Main duties of the job
As a qualified nursing associate, you will have the chance to demonstrate your skills in many different clinical situations. Your contribution to the quality of care provided will be valued by the wider multi-disciplinary team. There is support and supervision for further study that relates to secure nursing care including mentorship.
We are committed to working collaboratively with our patients to provide personalised care and treatment. You will have the opportunity to work with other members of the nursing team, the ward doctor, consultant psychiatrist, and also link in with the GP, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, and other external agencies.
You will support the nursing team and the wide MDT with the monitoring of physical health e.g. physical health screening, bloods, ECGs, wound care, medication administration, reviewing risks, and care plans under the supervision of a senior colleague.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
As part of this package we are able to offer support and assistance with the following:
* Preceptorship programme for newly qualified staff
* Opportunities to access the Clinical Skills Programme.
* Opportunity to participate in other groups and training e.g. end of life steering group, falls steering group
* Opportunity for further professional development including training in mental illness and physical health care e.g. catheter care, wound care.
Your role will be:
* To support senior staff with the physical health monitoring and screening of service users including: physical health screening, annual physical health screening, BMI monitoring, blood glucose monitoring, monitoring of physical observations.
* Undertake comprehensive assessments and be involved in the review of care plans and risk assessments.
* Support families and carers in accordance with information governance and consent.
* Assist the Unit Manager in developing a service that will ensure that the needs of patients are met with regard to their age, spiritual, cultural, ethnic and sexual orientation.
* To assist the Unit Manager with the ongoing development of the unit.
* In consultation with the multi-disciplinary team, ensure high standards of individual care for patients and that they are fully consulted and involved in every aspect of their care.
* To provide management and clinical supervision to members of staff.
* To liaise effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and both statutory and non-statutory organisations involved with client care.
* To assist the Unit Manager in ensuring high quality of evidence-based practice is carried out by all staff within the unit.
* To participate in the recruitment process, as required.

What happens after your application has been received?

What happens if I am offered the position after the interview?
The hiring manager will make contact with you to verbally offer you the position. The hiring manager will then inform Recruitment of the decision and provide relevant paperwork. You will be sent a formal conditional offer via email.
What pre-employment checks will I need to complete?
By conducting pre-employment checks, the recruitment team will verify that you meet the pre-conditions of the role you have been offered. Pre-employment checks will be carried out according to NHS Employment Check Standards. The checks are:
* Identity verification
* Right to work check
* Disclosure and barring service (DBS)/Criminal record check (dependent on role)
* Professional registration and/or qualification check
* Occupational health assessment
* Employment history and reference validation
All applicants external to NHS will be required to provide HMRC employment history to cover the most recent three years. This information will be used to validate employment history and references as part of pre-employment checks.

If the role you have been offered is not eligible for sponsorship, and you are not able to evidence your right to work, your conditional offer could be withdrawn.
What happens when pre-employment checks are complete?
Recruitment will liaise with you and the hiring manager to arrange a start date for your new position. You will then be booked onto a Trust Welcome Session and be sent your Pennine Care NHS Terms and Conditions.
