Key Responsibilities: Interpretation of system requirements and decomposing them into firmware requirements Conducting firmware development activities and reviews, covering full system and sub-system design Supporting the wider function to develop a strong process for reliable simulation Ensuring the technical solution meets customer, legislative, and business requirements Maintaining quality and timeliness of engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle Supporting the Line Manager in planning and estimation activities at the kickoff of new projects Identifying and resolving qualification, certification, and safety issues Producing project technical documentation in line with project requirements Testing, simulation, and integration of new developments, including formal testing Coaching and mentoring junior engineers Potential opportunities to act as Project Engineering Lead (PEL) and/or Work Package Manager (WPM) on one or more projects Job Requirements: Experience across the whole project lifecycle as a firmware engineer, within the defence sector Hands-on experience designing complex systems involving multiple electronics disciplines Successful delivery of reliable solutions within timescales and budgets Experience dealing with a wide range of stakeholders as part of a multidisciplinary project team Able to work effectively as a team player in a multidisciplinary project environment Additional Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a relevant subject; Chartered status or Professional Registration is desirable Experience in Defence/Maritime/Aviation environments is desirable Exposure to: Development of analogue and digital technologies Design for EMC, Electrical Safety & Signal Integrity of firmware, schematic, or PCB layout Firmware development Familiarity with PMRP and ECAD tools Design for manufacture, understanding of full project lifecycle Prototyping, test and verification of electronic subsystems (Hardware/Firmware) at unit and sub-system level Use of standard office and engineering tools such as DOORS, ERPs, and other Configuration Management tools Eligible for SC clearance Benefits: Optional 9-day fortnight Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) Flexible working hours 1pm finish on Fridays Annual bonus Hybrid working for certain roles Casual dress 25 days holiday with Christmas shutdown Option to buy or sell holiday Option to purchase private healthcare, dental, critical illness cover via salary sacrifice Reward hub with discounts at over 200 online stores 4x annual salary life cover Pension starting at 5% Employer/4% Employee, with flexible contribution options If you are a skilled Senior Electrical Engineer looking for the next step in your career within the defence sector, we would love to hear from you.
