Careers and Employability Lead
40 hours per week, 52 weeks
Salary : £34,712 - £36,172 per annum
Based at Glasshouse College, Stourbridge with travel to Argent College in Jewellery Quarter,
Birmingham, as required.
The Careers and Employability Lead will design and lead on the delivery and quality assurance of a rich, varied and highly effective Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) programme for students and ensure full compliance with the National Gatsby benchmarks.
The post holder is responsible for identifying, building and maintaining outstanding relationships with appropriate work experience providers to maximise sustainable pathways into work for students. This is a crucial role to realise the ambitious vision of the college in meeting the hopes and aspirations of the young people we serve.
The post holder will also lead on the delivery of careers advice and employability sessions to students.
Main Duties will include:
• Establishing a rich and varied careers education programmes as defined by the Gatsby Benchmarks and which exceeds the standards required by Ofsted.
• Having an awareness of career and labour market information both locally and further afield for residential students who are out of borough.
• Offering personal guidance on a range of careers and transition destinations for students, addressing the individual needs of each student.
• Linking careers education and employability skills to student learning in the curriculum.
• Organising a calendar of careers-related college events, such as an annual careers fair, encounters with employers, further education provision, apprenticeship providers, supported internship providers and college alumni who have gained employment after college and who can share their career journeys with current students.
To undertake this role you will hold a Degree level qualification in a relevant subject and/or level 4+ in Careers Information and Advice or Employability, and have sound knowledge of the national Gatsby benchmarks for CEIAG along with thorough knowledge of current national policies.
Experience of teaching and/or delivery of bespoke employability skills/CEIAG sessions for young people 1-1 and in small groups along with a knowledge and understanding of the transition process in post-16 specialist education will be highly desirable.
