Role Overview:
Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Torfaen
Job Type: Full-Time
Start Date: Feb 2025
Schedule: Monday to Friday (8:30am – 3:30pm)
Key Responsibilities:
* Safeguard and ensure the welfare of children at all times.
* Provide tailored 1:1 support, both in and outside the classroom.
* Assist in designing and implementing personalised interventions and strategies to support emotional and academic growth.
* Promote positive behaviour, self-regulation, and emotional resilience.
* Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and staff to adapt lessons and create an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
* Support children during unstructured times, such as lunch and break periods.
* Encourage social interactions with peers to foster development of social skills.
* Build trusting, positive relationships with students and act as a role model.
What We’re Looking For:
* Relevant qualifications are beneficial but not essential.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* A clear Enhanced DBS check and EWC registration.
* A driving license is preferred but not required.
Ideal Candidate Attributes:
* Previous experience working with SEMH or behavioural needs, ideally in an educational or care environment.
* Patient, proactive, and empathetic approach to supporting students.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
* Ability to manage challenging behaviour and know when to seek support.
