About the Role A well-established provider of residential care for young people is seeking a Children’s Home Registered Manager to oversee the daily operations of a 2-bed children's home. This role requires an experienced leader with a passion for improving the lives of vulnerable young people, ensuring they receive high-quality care and support in a nurturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations, leading a team of care professionals, and fostering a safe and supportive home that promotes the emotional, physical, and social development of young people. Key Responsibilities Service Management & Compliance Ensure the home delivers high-quality care in line with relevant legislation, Ofsted SCIFF standards, and internal policies. Implement safeguarding practices and promote the rights of young people. Maintain accurate records and oversee the monitoring and evaluation systems within the home. Develop and implement innovative approaches to childcare to enhance service delivery. Lead and attend internal and external meetings, including multidisciplinary reviews and strategy discussions. Take responsibility for key decisions regarding the home’s operations, including admissions and discharges. Participate in on-call duties and, if necessary, cover sleep-in shifts to ensure continuity of care. Leadership & Team Management Recruit, induct, and supervise staff to build a strong, motivated team. Provide ongoing professional development and training to ensure high standards of care. Conduct regular appraisals, supervisions, and performance reviews. Address grievances, complaints, and disciplinary issues in line with policies and procedures. Financial & Operational Management Monitor budgets and financial transactions to ensure targets are met. Oversee the maintenance of the premises and ensure facilities meet regulatory standards. External Engagement & Stakeholder Management Develop and maintain positive relationships with external agencies, professionals, and community partners. Liaise with commissioners and referral managers regarding new placements. Represent the home in external meetings and contribute to the wider leadership forums. Requirements Experience: Proven background in managing a team within a children’s residential care setting. Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of child protection, safeguarding procedures, and relevant legislation. Qualifications: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards this). Skills: Strong leadership and decision-making abilities. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Ability to manage budgets and ensure regulatory compliance. Additional: A full UK driving license and access to transport are required. Benefits Annual Leave: 25 days per year plus 8 statutory holidays. Performance Bonuses: £2,000 for an Outstanding Ofsted rating, plus a £100 per month full occupancy bonus. On-Call Payments: £25 per weekday, £35 per weekend shift. Flexible Working: While core hours are Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm, managers are expected to ensure the home is fully staffed, which may require additional flexibility, including occasional sleep-in duties.
