Job summary To assist the registered practitioner to provide a high standard of evidence based patient care within the Interventional Radiology theatres and across activities in imaging supporter by the interventional radiology nursing team, by participating in clinical and non-clinical duties. To assist the registered practitioner to implement care delivery according to patient care needs, as part of the multi-disciplinary team. To work in collaboration with staff in other areas of the Directorate and Trust to ensure a seamless service for patients. Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification. Main duties of the job Assist the registered practitioner to maintain the seamless running of the operating list by ensuring the daily checking and preparation of the Theatre environment and equipment required to carry out the days planned clinical procedures. Assist in the delivery of quality care to both unconscious and conscious patients, with the effective utilisation of locally agreed care pathways. Assist with completing accurate and detailed documentation of individualised care delivery. Participate in the accurate accounting of all disposable and non-disposable instrumentation, before, during and after a surgical procedure according to departmental policies. Adhere to policies and procedures when handling sharp instrumentation/materials and when handling hazardous chemicals e.g. formalin, during the course of daily duties. Give effective support to the multi-disciplinary team when assuming the role of the Circulating practitioner, under the supervision of the registered practitioner. Assist the registered practitioner in rapidly changing emergency situations within the theatre and department environments, requiring a high degree of professionalism and clinical competence. Work as part of the MDT assisting consultants and the multi-disciplinary team with designated clinics (including fluoroscopy) May be a future requirement to participate in a HCA on-call rota or night shifts in order to support the progression of the stroke thrombectomy service.
