The role of the CNS, as a clinical co-ordinator nurse specialist, is to provide a high quality accessible and timely clinical service to patients with complex spinal conditions who require specialist spinal nursing care and management of their spinal disorder and associated complications/co morbidities such as neurogenic bladder and bowel/bracing and movement restrictions to improve clinical outcome, manage risks and improve quality of life for this patient group
This post will support the patients admitted via emergency admission and elective surgical pathways and as part of the elective procedure process, from This will include pre-assessment and post procedural care, ensuring all standards are meet; promoting a patient centred and evidence based care pathways.
Improving the standards of ward based care for these patients, implementing and auditing educational efforts to ensure safe and effective nursing care.
Provide specialist nursing advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualized care to patients/clients and relatives/carers without supervision in collaboration with the multi- disciplinary team in line with local and national targets.
The post holder will provide specialist nursing care and support and deputise for their line manager in the management of their clinical speciality. This will involve dealing with complex situations and having to take appropriate action in a variety of settings.
