This could be the role for you Rake Up & Grow is one of the services we run within our Vocational Hub a department focused on work and vocational activities. Rake Up & Grow operates at various locations in B&NES enhancing gardens and grounds of the sites we attend using sustainable working practices. About the role: You will be acting as a support worker within the group on shared basis, the ratio of support is usually 1 staff member to 4/5 people supported. This role involves various tasks: setup the group for the day, such as checking of equipment and PPE planning the tasks for the day with the coordinator allocating tasks to people attending the group given clear instruction, tuition and demonstration of tasks ensuring safety of people we support when using power tools ensuring working locations are safe regular monitoring of people we support while on task planning of breaks, ensuring all are attending to their wellbeing during the day end of day work to ensure all equipment and PPE is returned and stored safely completing any progress reports or records as required You can expect: A comprehensive induction Regular supervision A supportive team around you A full training programme Specific vehicle competency checks and relevant training (where relevant for driving duties) To apply you will have: Experience of gardening and grounds work Competence to use power tools including lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, brush cutters, leaf blowers etc. Confidence to instruct and supervise others to use power tools Fitness and willingness to work outdoors in all seasons breaks in a warm space with hot drinks are planned into each session though Care experience (preferred but not essential) Transferable skills The ability to work in a physically demanding role Why B&NES Council ?
