Description The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project currently involves the planning, design and construction of circa 320km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure. The SPA Alliance is also taking on responsibility for the future interconnector pipelines, a further 260km of strategic interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure. LI-JA1 Responsibilities The Strategic Pipeline Programme stretches across the whole of the Anglian region with a range of interfaces with the existing operational system. An additional £800M of interconnectors are being promoted in AMP8 to build the connectivity from the Strategic Grid. This role is to provide a critical technical leadership role in the delivery of this system. The System Engineering Lead will manage the SPA modelling and system control function, working in collaboration with the project design teams, the commissioning team, the water quality team, the SCADA team and SPA suppliers. They will ensure modelling and control outputs are developed consistently to integrate the AMP7 and AMP8 solutions into the wider SPA grid. They will work closely with the Anglian Water Modelling functions and Operational stakeholders to ensure efficient SPA solutions for defined system needs are developed and agreed in line with Anglian Water requirements. They will adopt the principles of standard designs and following AW engineering design standards. Lead the hydraulic modelling, transient modelling and system control function for the SPA Engineering team across AMP7 and AMP8 programmes of work Ensure resources of suitable competence and capacity are available to deliver the SPA modelling and system control scope Prepare and implement modelling strategies to ensure modelling is undertaken in a consistent manner across programme Ensure team outputs are in line with wider Engineering team requirements to incorporate system level requirements into site and equipment level deliverables Work closely with Anglian Water operational and modelling stakeholders to ensure outputs meet Anglian Water requirements, and appropriate Anglian Water QA and sign-off is achieved Maintain close links with the project design teams, commissioning team, water quality team and SCADA team to ensure expertise is integrate into the System level project design, to smooth interfaces and manage gaps/overlaps Acts as main point of contact with SCADA team ensuring consistency across system and site designs and integration with the system wide control strategy Oversees the System Control Change process Ensure project design deliverables required to progress the SCADA system development are clear and communicated to the design teams Support design planning and forecasting exercises for the modelling and system control function Qualifications Educated to degree level (preferably in water/wastewater process science/engineering related subject) Experience of commissioning Experience of control philosophy development Experience of water system hydraulic modelling and transient modelling application Experience of feasibility/outline design on complex transfer systems Understanding of complex systems from a hydraulic and control perspective Developing innovative solutions Problem solving Communicating complex technical challenges Building collaborative relationships
