Contract: 12 month fixed-term contract (Maternity Cover)
Salary Scale: £37,035 – £37,938
The advertised salary includes a supplement (JWC) to the base grade of the post. JWC supplements are conditional on the physical demands and/or working conditions of the role.

We are looking for an experienced, skilled, and dedicated person to join our well-established Youth Justice Service as a Youth Offending Team Officer. You will work within the multi-agency Youth Justice Service to deliver effective youth justice services to children, young people, and their families aimed at preventing offending and re-offending, including cases posing a high level of risk.
The role involves working with a varied caseload of young people subject to Criminal Justice Disposals and their families. You will be required to carry out detailed assessments and work with young people to develop plans; prepare and maintain accurate written records; and ensure the delivery of disposals imposed by the courts and police. You will also participate in a duty rota undertaking core tasks of the YJS including work at Court and in Police Stations and prepare pre-sentence and other reports for the Courts. It is important that the voices of children and young people are heard and informs assessment and direct work.
The right candidate will have experience of working with and engaging young people and families with complex needs within the Criminal Justice System. You will be able to take a strength-based approach to empower people to make changes, while demonstrating persistence to overcome any problems. Experience of managing challenging behaviour and working with complex issues is important.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and requires an enhanced DBS check with a Children’s Barred List check.
Please note this role involves working in regulated activity with Children. It is an offence for people who are barred from working in regulated activity to apply for roles that require them to work unsupervised with Children.
