Liaise with senior nurse, patient flow co-ordinator, admissions lounge and MDT regarding admission, discharges and transfers of patients to ensure patients are admitted as scheduled.
Provide a welcoming and professional approach to all members of the public and staff attending the ward.
Deal with sensitive, confidential information and queries regarding patients on ward in a sympathetic and reassuring manner.
Provide advice and support to both new and existing members of the MDT.
Take the lead for the management and organisation of patient records within the clinical area, including the management of the Lorenzo system. Train staff on how to input information into the system, understand the information held within it, and disseminate to other staff members as required.
Work with minimal supervision providing clerical and administrative support to the ward team.
Support the nursing team with the admission and discharge of patients.
Perform administration activities such as filing and answering the telephone.
Ensure patient records are up to date on the IT system.
Liaise with external services such as booking appointments and transport.
Receive, welcome and guide patients and visitors to the ward/department.
Maintain and update paper-based and information technology records as required.
Respond to requests for general information.
Collect and deliver requests to other hospital departments, e.g., pharmacy, radiology, etc.
Provide information to patients on how to make a complaint/compliment and forward these to the relevant person/department.
