Assistant Design Manager
Location: Worcestershire, Kidderminster
Price / Salary: £45000 - £50000/annum
Job Summary: Assistant Design Manager (Can be based from Kidderminster or Daventry with travel to larger Site Projects)
Responsible for assisting the Senior/Design Manager with the design process and helping supervise consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers. Responsible for assisting the Senior/Design Manager to provide knowledge of practical construction methodology in addition to exposure managing technical information on projects.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Play a part in managing the project design resource and team profile at bid and delivery stages.
2. Support the Senior/Design Manager to lead and provide a professional, comprehensive, and sustainable design service for the customer and key partners/suppliers at bid and delivery stages.
3. Manage and co-ordinate agreed specific elements of the design process through the RIBA design stages.
4. Challenge those elements of the brief and bring fresh thinking, innovation, and implement continuous improvement benefits to the projects at bid and delivery stages.
5. Ensure understanding and compliance with design management departmental procedures at bid and delivery stages.
6. Assist with design reviews and co-ordination meetings.
7. Assist with the implementation of the design strategy to deliver coordinated design solutions.
8. Assist with ensuring BREEAM compliance where required on projects in support of (and with) the sustainability team.
9. Assist with monitoring progress against the programme, and report to the project team.
10. Assist with managing the contract specifications, drawings, and related documents.
11. Assist with submitting design information to the client team.
12. Assist with carrying out technical reviews of proposed works.
13. Assist with the collation of the O&M Health and Safety file (as requested by Document Controller).
14. Assist with providing design & technical support to project management teams.
15. Work to the Company’s Quality, Environmental and Safety Management System standards and performance criteria including delivering the objectives set.
16. Any other duties consistent with the role of Assistant Design Manager as may be required from time to time.
Qualifications:
1. Working towards or have a Degree in Construction Management/Architecture/Engineering/Architectural Technology or comparable qualification e.g. HNC/HND/BTEC/NVQ.
2. Minimum 2 years+ experience with design co-ordination or an engineering or architectural background.
3. Awareness of and adherence to company policies and health and safety requirements.
4. Commitment to continual learning to refine, further develop and apply expertise to add distinctive value to the Company.
5. Excellent IT skills proficient in the suite of Microsoft programmes (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
