Senior Quantity Surveyor

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor with John Rowan & Partners, you’ll do it by:
1. Carrying out general pre and post contract cost management duties on residential led, mixed-use projects.
2. Taking ownership, accountability and responsibility for projects and duties.
3. Actively and proactively managing and developing client relationships.
4. Delivering an uncompromised quality service, tailored to suit the client’s needs.
5. Having regular active communication with project parties through conversation, meetings, email, and reporting.
6. Maximising the levels of value and cost certainty being achieved for our clients.
7. Reporting on project financials at all levels to both internal and external stakeholders.
8. Producing estimates, cost plans, and cash flow forecasts.
9. Producing management reports and communicating progress and forecasts to the client team, including all pre and post contract management duties.
10. Undertaking benchmarking and comparison analysis between projects and contractors.
11. Negotiating with main contractors and specialists.
12. Chairing meetings and producing reports on projects.
13. Collaborating and managing external stakeholders to understand and fulfil the client’s needs.
14. Proactively identifying risk and putting in place a robust mitigation strategy.
15. Producing tender documents, including pre-ambles and preliminaries, managing the tender process, reviewing, negotiating, and reporting.
16. Managing risk and delivering schemes from inception to completion whilst maintaining regular communication with clients, contractors, and developers.
17. Managing budgets, programme, risk, procurement processes, undertaking negotiation with contractors, and subsequent projections of overall cash savings.
18. Maintaining proactive project management of projects at each RIBA stage, working closely with client teams and external teams.
19. Leading project teams and developing strong internal and client relationships.
20. Managing client projects and looking for opportunities for new client development.
21. Maximising the levels of value and programme certainty being achieved for our clients.
22. Attending sites, as well as internal and external client facing meetings.
23. Keeping up to date with relevant legislation which affects the projects being developed by our clients.
24. Assisting in promoting sustainable thinking to our clients and having a basic level of understanding as to how to integrate sustainable thinking into our projects.
What does it take?
If you’re ready to be the energy that helps us build our business, share our success, and really own it as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll need:
* A Quantity Surveying Degree awarded by a UK university and accredited by the RICS.
* Fully Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS), or working towards this, with a minimum of two years post qualification experience.
* Experience and understanding of the full RIBA Plan of Work Stages and delivering the role against these.
* Demonstrable experience in the full life cycle of a client project.
* Experience of working in professional services.
* A solid understanding and experience of a variety of procurement routes.
* Demonstrable line management experience.
* Solid organisational and management skills.
* Proven ability to manage multiple internal and external stakeholders.
* Proven ability to deliver on time and provide a high-quality proactive service to clients.
* Advanced Excel skills with the capability of linking spreadsheets, producing graphical reports, lookup formulae, and analysis.
* Solid quantity surveying technical knowledge.
* Advantageous if you have experience in public sector housing development.
* Demonstrable ability to multitask and work on multiple projects and clients at any one time.
* Able to work effectively using your own initiative and manage your own workload efficiently.
* The right to work in the UK.
* A valid, full, clean UK driving license.
* Willingness to travel nationally.
* Commitment to having fun while working hard, and working hard at having fun.
Working arrangements
