The Aviation Security (AvSec) team is seeking an enthusiastic, customer-obsessed Regional AvSec Manager to provide leadership and oversight of Amazon’s AvSec operations in the UK and Europe. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, implementation, review & maintenance of AvSec initiatives the include cargo screening. This role will ensure Amazon is compliant with government regulations while adhering to corporate policies and standardized processes. The candidate must be a strong leader who is excited about an opportunity to influence and support an emerging business at Amazon. This key role will support the Amazon operation with understanding, implementing, and validating security requirements to ensure that employees, third party vendors, visitors, and our assets are secure. Further, this role will ensure the organization is prepared to properly respond to various security related threats, escalations and emergencies. The candidate must be able to think strategically and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. The candidate serves as the interface between leadership from both internal and external stakeholders and is responsible for leading the launch of a new operation and achieving goals and performance targets. The candidate is responsible for identifying, reporting, and leading the correction of non-compliance and deficiencies, as well as, serve as a point of contact for regulatory engagement from Federal, State and Local agencies. Key job responsibilities As part of the AvSec team, the candidate responsibilities will include managing ambiguity through expertise and judgement to determine the right stakeholders to form decisions. The candidate will hire & develop the right workforce strategy to meet long-term goals. The candidate may lead multiple layers of managers and specialists with limited guidance through performance management utilizing individual and team goals. The candidate will create, establish, and verify compliance with security procedures and regulatory standards, physical security design standards and policies. The candidate will learn Amazon’s Security Management System (SeMS) and apply its processes for risk mitigation and strategy definition. The candidate will support local and global teams to develop new security standards, and evaluate existing security standards by establishing workflows, SLAs, and operational processes. The candidate will ensure customer outcomes are auditable, decisions are data-driven, and work quality is measurable. This is a new and evolving business operation which we are looking for a candidate who can introduce best practices and move with a strong bias for action as we ramp up these efforts while raising the bar on AvSec and regulatory compliance. Other responsibilities include: a. Managing the development, implementation, review and maintenance of Amazon’s AvSec exports operations in the UK and Europe; b. Owning AvSec launch functions for new locations or operations within the region; c. Working closely with AvSec Sr. leadership, site leaders and support groups (e.g., HR, Loss Prevention, Legal, Safety) to ensure on-going success for AvSec initiatives; d. Supporting and making recommendations in the development of policies, standards and procedures to address evolving operational processes with a focus on identifying solutions that facilitate business objectives and AvSec; e. Overseeing employees and contractors and ensuring they have the sufficient knowledge and skills to perform their roles; f. Liaising with airline security departments to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements; g. Liaising with Government to ensure compliance with all security regulatory requirements and act as the main POC to receive any threat assessments or directives issued by the Department; Representing Amazon with industry partners; h. Investigating allegations of regulatory violations and utilizing the Security Management System (SeMS) to identify the root cause for failures and develop mitigating actions to reduce risk; i. Overseeing the serviceability of all security equipment and ensure appropriate protections are in place for all security sensitive information (physical and electronic); j. Leading the Quality Assurance and Quality Control of AvSec operations in Brazil. This includes but is not limited to training development, risk management solutions, performance standards and resource development; k. Reporting and monitoring AvSec incidents, threats, and breaches.
