We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic Systemic Family Therapist to join our clinical team at our 12 bedded Dragonfly Adolescent Unit for young people aged 13-17.
Led by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, you would join the clinical team as a key member of the service both assessing and working with families and young people admitted with complex mental health needs.
Our clinical team has clinical psychology, OT, Social work and Art therapy and works closely with our Matron led nursing team, psychiatrists and education service.
The post-holder will be expected to work with the most highly complex cases and to develop an area of special interest within family therapy holding differing views and managing conflict and unknown factors, all of which characterise complex work.
Main duties of the job
If successful, you be joining us at an exciting time as we develop an integrated clinical model of care informed by developmental and relational theory to add to our understanding of mental health difficulties in young people.
Alongside work with the MDT, you would be expected to contribute to service development as we improve our Good CQC rating.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* M.Sc./Post-graduate Diploma in Systemic Psychotherapy/Family Therapy or equivalent
* UKCP registered family therapist
* Additional qualification in a related profession (e.g. social work, nursing, psychology).
* Relevant specialist training in adolescent mental health disorders
* Advanced training in supervision
* Doctoral level research experience
Experience
* Substantial post-qualifying experience as a systemic/family psychotherapist working in health care or social care setting
* Relevant experience of working collaboratively with service users and carers in the development of patient/client-centered services
* Substantial experience of working with children, adolescents and families with mental health problems in complex situations
* Experience facilitating the development of multi-disciplinary staff groups through the application of systemic models
* Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care coordinator and also within the context of a multi-disciplinary care plan
* Planning and delivering teaching to health and/or social care professionals
* In-patient experience working towards creating and sustaining a therapeutic milieu
Skills
* Skills in the use of different methods of assessment, formulation, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration. This requires the use of highly developed analytical and judgement skills.
* Of current, evidence based, stepped care models of care as detailed in NICE guidance.
* Skills in individual and group work and in program planning
* Planning and organising skills for caseload management
* Skills in self-management, including time-management
* Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information, including contentious and highly distressing information, to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
* Knowledge and facilitation of specialised family therapy interventions such as multi-family group therapy programs
* Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialized systemic therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc.)
* Knowledge of neurodevelopmental disorders including ADHD and ASD and learning disability including specific child protection and risk issues relevant to this group of CYP.
* Formal training in supervision of other systemic therapists
Knowledge
* Knowledge of Mental health disorders in children and young people
* Good working knowledge of evidence base for the treatment of child and adolescent mental health problems in CAMHS
* Good understanding of other professionals' theoretical perspectives of this client group
* Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups
* Evidence of continuing professional development as required to meet UKCP standards for accreditation and practice
* Ability to contain and work with organizational stress Mental Effort
* Ability to understand and utilise therapeutic use of self and to maintain insight through constructive use of personal supervision
* Knowledge of treatment evidence-base for eating disorders

* Ability to travel
* To maintain highest professional standards and skills required by UKCP for annual registration
* Must be capable of interpreting broad occupational policies and be accountable for own professional actions
* Record of having published in either peer-reviewed journals or equivalent.
