Job summary Registered Nurse - Paediatric Unit -The Grange University Hospital The paediatric unit in the Grange University Hospital consists of 2 wards (0-5 years, and 5-16 years), a high dependency unit and a Children's Emergency Assessment unit. Caring for children with a variety of conditions including medical, surgical, orthopaedic, Ear nose and throat (ENT), maxillofacial and child and adolescent mental health (CAMHS). Main duties of the job You will care for children with a variety of conditions, performing and recording vital signs, assessing and planning care accordingly. You will become proficient in medication administration, monitor hydration/circulation status and nutritional needs. You will communicate in both verbal and non-verbal methods. You will assess and respond to any pain and anxiety your patients experience. You will work within a multidisciplinary team and will advocate on behalf of you patients and families. Family centred care is central to your role as a children's nurse alongside safeguarding all children. Clear and timely documentation is essential, as well as participating in service improvement including audits and your own developmental journey. The successful applicants will have a flexible approach to work and a warm caring approach to children and their families. The post will include day and night shifts, weekends, bank holidays and the successful post holder will need to be willing to work anywhere within the division.
