About The Role: As an SEMH Teacher, you will provide tailored and engaging lessons to students who require a more individualised and structured approach to learning. You will be instrumental in creating a nurturing and inclusive environment, enabling students to develop both academically and emotionally. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will implement effective strategies to support behaviour management, emotional regulation and personalised learning plans. Responsibilities of SEMH Teacher: Plan and deliver differentiated lessons that support both academic progress and emotional development. Foster a positive and structured learning environment, ensuring students feel safe and valued. Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies to support student engagement. Work collaboratively with SENCOs, teaching assistants, therapists and external agencies to provide holistic support. Adapt teaching methods to accommodate students with complex SEMH, ASD, ADHD and associated needs. Provide constructive feedback and reports to monitor progress and support continuous development. Actively promote self-confidence, independence and emotional resilience among students. The successful candidate will: Must have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a focus on SEMH or SEN. Have hands-on experience working with students who exhibit Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties. Strong knowledge of understanding of the challenges students with SEMH face. The ability to differentiate lessons and employ a range of teaching techniques to support students with varying needs. Have in-depth knowledge of trauma-informed practices, positive behaviour reinforcement and de-escalation techniques. Have familiarity with additional special educational needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and other complex conditions Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with other professionals to support SEMH students. Have an updated CV ( covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps ) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one). Why Choose GSL Education?
