We have a rare opportunity to join Hertfordshire County Council’s communications team as Senior Communications Officer, working in a job-share on a part-time basis.
You’ll be joining us at an important time, helping the council effectively communicate its vision for the future of Hertfordshire, with our residents, people who use our services and our local and national partners.
Joining a team of around 20 staff who use a range of traditional, social, and digital communications methods to develop, create and deliver a range of high quality and engaging internal and external communications activity for Hertfordshire’s 1.2 million residents and over 8,000 staff.
About the role
As the Senior Communications Officer, you will be part of the Internal Communications and Corporate Campaigns team. This role is a great opportunity for a passionate communicator looking to take the next step in their career. You will be working to support a high-profile and expanding area, which touches the lives of all Hertfordshire residents. You'll need to be a creative thinker and excellent project manager with the ability to process highly complex ideas and concepts quickly, turning them into consistent messages that resonate with colleagues.
You will support with delivering the internal comms and engagement strategy to our approx. 8,000 colleagues. Drafting the Chief Executive’s monthly blog and working on internal comms campaigns to bring out RISE values to life.
You will be required to work well with people from across the organisation and stakeholders at every level, so developing strong relationships will be key. The nature of the role requires someone with strong news sense, the ability to tailor communications activity for different audiences and who can effectively juggle competing priorities.
About you
* Experience in internal communications, marketing, or corporate communications.
* Proven track record of planning, delivering and evaluating integrated communication campaigns (internal and external audiences).
* Energetic, driven and experience in working as part of a team.
* Experience of developing excellent internal and external stakeholder relationships to deliver communication activities.
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
* Copywriting - fantastic writing, editing and proofreading skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms.
* Developing brand strategy and guidelines.
* Event management.
* Public sector experience.
