We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading provider of maintenance and repair services within the aerospace industry, for the position of Buyer. Our client is known for their commitment to excellence and sustainability, with a strong reputation for delivering top-quality services across multiple sites in the United Kingdom.
Role & Responsibilities:
As a Buyer, you will play a crucial role in optimising the procurement process and ensuring that high-quality materials and components are available when needed. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Identifying opportunities to reduce costs by centralising purchasing activities and leveraging spend across multiple sites.
* Recording cost savings and reporting them to management for review.
* Monitoring and progressing open purchase orders to ensure timely delivery.
* Addressing stock shortages and adjusting inventory levels as necessary.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, and updating supplier contact records in the database.
* Sourcing spare parts on the open market, including higher assemblies for parts teardown, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
* Managing internal purchase requisitions and procuring non-stock commercial products, using the e-procurement system to streamline spend through group-wide suppliers.
* Conducting weekly reviews of inventory reports and purchasing pharmaceutical products for specific business units.
* Assisting in the resolution of delivery, quality, or invoice discrepancies.
* Arranging the return of supplier products according to the company’s returns policy, and capturing data on quality and delivery performance for supplier assessments.
* Supporting the engineering team with the costing of spares, tooling, and consumables for various projects.
* Participating in daily meetings to provide accurate product information and support business units effectively.
Experience and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
* Experience in purchasing technical products and services within an engineering, manufacturing, or technical environment.
* Proficiency in MRP purchasing and stock management systems.
* Strong experience in fostering and managing supplier relationships.
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, with the ability to analyse and manipulate large data sets to generate reports and insights.
* The ability to read and understand technical drawings and product specifications.
