INFORMATION ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT Leeds Children's Hospital is offering Out Of Programme Pause (OOPP) positions in a number of sub-speciality areas. OOPP positions allow trainees to take a step out of formal training for one year and have any competencies gained whilst out of training assessed upon their return. Leeds Childrens Hospital is offering these fantastic opportunities, starting in September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic trainee to gain experience and develop clinical skills in Paediatric haematology and oncology that could contribute to SPIN competencies. The post is based at the Leeds Childrens Hospital at the Leeds General Infirmary in the heart of the city. Specialty Doctors are an integral part of our Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Department. All of Leeds tertiary paediatric services are based at the Leeds Childrens Hospital, which is one of the largest specialist facilities for children in the UK and offers regional and supra-regional expertise. The Childrens, Teenage and Young Adult Haematology and Oncology Service has won national awards and is a dynamic clinical, training and research unit. The appointee will be responsible for the day-to-day care of the paediatric and young adult haematology and oncology inpatients. They will be supported in this by the consultants, the trainee doctors, the advanced clinical practitioners and a Trust grade doctor for in the in-patient unit. They will see patients attending acutely to the day unit supported by the advanced clinical practitioners and the trainee doctors. They will participate in the clinics and day care service supported by consultants and two other speciality doctors They will participate in the multi-professional paediatric haematology and oncology clinical governance programmes. The appointee will participate in the Childrens Hospital Resident doctor on call rota at HST level which will involve looking after general paediatric and/or paediatric specialty patients. This post is for a 12-month period from September 2025.
