We are an 'Good' rated specialist provider of education and care, supporting boys aged 5 - 12 who face challenges associated with additional social, emotional and mental health needs. The Role: To deliver high quality Key Stage 1 and 2 teaching and learning to young people with range of complex needs associated with SEMH. The class size will be 8 students and you will have the support of 2 Teaching Assistants. Students may also be on the autistic spectrum and have mental health and anxiety related conditions. Key Responsibilities: To carry out the professional duties of a Teacher as outlined in the Professional Standards for Teachers. To take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school’s policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT. To plan and deliver lessons following a broad and balanced curriculum according to DfE guidance and the school’s policies including reflective practice. To be responsible for the day to day running of the class and assist in other relevant aspects of the day to day running of the school. To assess, record and report pupils’ progress according the school’s policy in order to monitor and foster pupils’ progress in all areas of learning. To attend and contribute to teachers’ meetings, multi-disciplinary meetings and any other relevant staff meetings. To ensure a high standard of personal care for the pupils, carefully monitoring the health and well-being of pupils informing the care staff, medical staff, behaviour support team and any other relevant professionals of any concerns. To manage and delegate classroom responsibilities of teaching assistants and assist with their professional development. Ideally successful candidates are likely to demonstrate: Experience of working in a primary school environment in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, ideally in specialist education. Experience in Primary setting in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with SEN, SLD/PMLD and ASC Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge Experience of successfully delivering a differentiated curriculum to students with a wide range of needs.
