Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Lung Cancer CNS Team at UHB. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to work in this dynamic and forward-thinking specialist team. You will be based at Birmingham Heartlands hospital but there will be an expectation that you will work across all HGS Sites as and when required. This is an 11-month secondment post/11-month fixed term contract to support maternity cover.
The successful candidates will join our well-established and highly regarded lung cancer specialist nursing service. We are looking for experienced, innovative, motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic registered nurses who possess excellent communication skills and a passion for delivering patient centred care and services. We encourage Band 5 registered nurses to apply to gain developmental experience within a Band 6 role.
Main Duties of the Job
You will develop individual competence and knowledge which will support the provision and evaluation of seamless Lung Cancer Specialist nursing services, ensuring patients receive the highest standards of clinical care.
You will develop specialist knowledge and skills, demonstrated through the provision of advice/education and support to staff, patients, families and carers. You will be supported by a more experienced nurse or nurses to enable you to achieve competence in agreed areas of specialist practice through exposure, training and education.
Carry out specialist clinical practice within a designated group of patients as part of a multidisciplinary team. Ensure that high quality, current evidence-based nursing care underpins all actions with patients and is aligned to professional values of care, compassion and respect.
Ensure safe and effective clinical practice.

Qualifications Essential
* Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC Register.
* 2 years post registration adult experience in either Respiratory, Thoracic, Oncology or Palliative care.
* Evidence of post registration CPD/Post registration qualification in appropriate area of speciality or professional knowledge supplemented by specialist experience.
* Recognised mentorship course.
Experience Essential
* Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC.
* Significant post registration experience with evidence of passion/enthusiasm and knowledge for the associated area of specialist practice.
* Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of ongoing professional development/competence.
* Demonstrate specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and CPD relevant to speciality.
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment.
* Has understanding/experience of the principles of Safeguarding in relation to the role applied for.
* Knowledge of corporate and clinical governance.
