Head of Event Operations - Ryder Cup Europe Based: Virginia Water, UK. Join Our Team as Head of Event Operations for the Ryder Cup Europe The European Tour group is one of the world’s pre-eminent golf organisations. We are responsible for running the world-famous DP World Tour, Legends Tour, Challenge Tour and G4D Tour (golf for the disabled). We also organise, alongside the PGA of America, golf’s greatest team contest - the Ryder Cup. As the Head of Operations for the Ryder Cup Europe, you will ensure the smooth execution of home Ryder Cup events, from pre-event planning to post-event debriefing. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the overlay planning of the event, managing logistics, coordinating on-site teams, working with external stakeholders, and aligning all operational elements with the event’s vision and objectives. This role will require regular travel, and extended periods on-site as the event draws closer. This senior leadership position demands exceptional organizational skills, strong people management, strategic thinking, and the ability to thrive under pressure in a high-stakes environment. Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities: Leadership: You'll be at the helm of our Operations team, guiding and supporting them across all functions. Your leadership will ensure everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Overlay Design and Planning: You'll manage the layout, design, and placement of temporary infrastructure, ensuring everything is safe, accessible, and visually stunning. Plus, you'll lead the contractor procurement process and build strong relationships with our suppliers working alongside various internal departments within the European Tour Group. Project and Budget Management: You'll manage our site operations budget, keeping track of expenses and finding cost-effective solutions without compromising on quality. You'll also develop and manage the overlay timeline, ensuring every milestone and deadline is met. During the event week, you'll deliver comprehensive operational plans to keep everything on track. Stakeholder and Contractor Coordination: You'll be the key liaison between internal teams, event venues, external suppliers, and local authorities. Your clear communication and coordination will ensure everyone is on the same page. You'll also work closely with local authorities and contractors to meet all legal, regulatory, and environmental requirements. On-Site Management and Quality Control: From setup to breakdown, you'll oversee the team delivering all on-site installations, ensuring they meet our high standards for quality and safety. You'll coordinate with event teams to solve any problems in real-time, adapting quickly to any changes or unexpected challenges. Post-Event Responsibilities: After the event, you'll manage the decommissioning and site restoration, ensuring everything complies with venue, environmental, and health & safety standards. You'll also conduct post-event evaluations, documenting lessons learned and making recommendations for future Ryder Cup events. Other Responsibilities: Occasionally support colleagues on events in other areas of the European Tour Group. Knowledge, Skills & Experience: Proven experience in a senior leadership role in event overlay, site operations, and large-scale event management, preferably in high-profile international events. Strong project management skills with proven experience managing large budgets, complex timelines, and supplier contracts. Advanced knowledge of safety standards, compliance requirements, and temporary structure best practices. Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
