Glasgow Caledonian - the largest and leading modern university in Scotland - is a vibrant, values-led university with campuses in the heart of Glasgow and London. We have strong partnerships with employers to ensure our students get the careers they dream of and deserve.
This post is for a Lecturer in Journalism, full-time for 2 years. We are seeking candidates who can bring industry experience and knowledge for teaching and research across our growing portfolio of journalism modules and programmes. GCU is one of the leading educators of work-ready journalists, and one of the only double-accredited providers of journalism degrees in the UK. Our journalism graduates work across print, digital, broadcast and online and we are interested in hearing from candidates who can teach in one or more of these areas, including the use of industry-specific software for journalism. Alternatively, academic research on journalism that can integrate with our current offer will be considered.
Ideally, candidates will be able to demonstrate industry experience alongside some higher education teaching experience and be prepared to contribute to a wide range of journalism modules from undergraduate to postgraduate programmes.
If you would like to discuss this role, please contact the Head of Department, Professor Simon McKerrell for an informal discussion: simon.mckerrell@gcu.ac.uk.
As the University for the Common Good, we are committed to embedding equality, diversity and inclusion in everything that we do. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates who demonstrate the GCU Values.
Please note that the appointment will be made on the first point of the salary scale (unless by exception).
