Clinical Psychologist (Band 8a)
The role is largely in person - we work with people admitted to the wards - there is a little scope for home working but this is the minority of the role. Experience required: 1) working at this level, and 2) working with inpatient adult acute mental health wards as a qualified psychologist. This is in Yeovil, ideally full-time. This is likely to be for 3 months, required now.
The role includes:
1. Direct clinical work: psychological assessment, formulation, short evidence-based psychological interventions.
2. Clinical supervision of Assistant Psychologists (who work both on the adult acute wards, and with the Home Treatment (Crisis) Teams), including some supporting new Assistant Psychologists to settle into their roles.
3. Psychological consultation for the multidisciplinary team, also attending handovers regularly and supporting the nursing and multidisciplinary team with working psychologically.
4. Good communication and liaison with the wider psychological team, actively participating in their own clinical supervision and relevant clinical meetings, and developing effective working relationships in short time frames.
5. Indirect clinical work: supporting the psychological skills of the multidisciplinary staff teams through reflective practice/group supervision, and potentially training.
