The Director of Nursing is responsible for planning, administering, and evaluating the operation of the nursing department. In doing so, the Director assigns duties to department personnel based on patient’s needs, staffing availability, and work priority to ensure high quality of patient care. This is a multi-faceted position that requires exceptional communication and human relation skills with clients and staff. You will serve as a resource person for department personnel in resolving operational and patient care problems. The ideal candidate must have a high degree of integrity, compassion, and flexibility.
Responsibilities
Clinical Operations:
1. Developing and setting nursing protocols for all procedures performed; updating nursing records and forms to meet the changing needs of the practice
2. Directing personnel to ensure provision of effective, efficient, and safe nursing care
3. Developing and implementing objectives for the nursing department
4. Overseeing infection control and safety policies
Patient Quality Assurance:
1. Enforcing patient safety and confidentiality standards
2. Reviewing patient cases and making recommendations to ensure patient safety
3. Organizing phone triage policies and procedures
Office Management:
1. Assisting in supervision of inventory of outpatient surgery center, and overseeing of supplies ordered
2. Supervision of biomedical engineering department in fulfilling safety review and repair of equipment
Experience
Two to three years of related work experience preferred.
BSN preferred.
Experience with survey preparation from approved accreditation association (JCAHO or AAAHC).
License/Certification
Current California Registered Nurse license.
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certificate.
